Islamabad’s PIMS Hospital is Undergoing Massive Renovation

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) has embarked on a comprehensive renovation project, marking a significant milestone nearly four decades after its establishment. The initiative aims to enhance patient facilities at the largest government hospital in the federal capital.

Dr. Mubashir Mushtaq Daha, spokesperson for Pims, confirmed that the federal government has already disbursed Rs250 million following the approval of a Rs400 million grant for hospital renovation. This effort has been spearheaded by the Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Health, Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, and Health Secretary Nadeem Mehboob.

Initially focusing on roof repairs, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been tasked with executing the project under the oversight of Pims Executive Director Professor Dr. Imran Sikander. The renovation, including upgrading hospital wards, is expected to be completed within two months.

Officials underscore that this marks Pims’ first major renovation since its inception in 1985, a critical step in maintaining its role as a pivotal healthcare provider for patients across the country.
