On Tuesday, excise authorities in Haripur sealed more than 30 commercial establishments for failing to pay property tax.
The action was taken on the directive of the Secretary of the Excise Department, Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah, who instructed officials to ensure full recovery of outstanding property taxes.
Excise and Taxation Officer Pervez Akhtar led the operation against defaulters, sealing a car wash, a petrol station, a regional office of a private company, and 30 shops across the city.
According to Akhtar, the defaulters collectively owed Rs8.7 million in property taxes.
He later confirmed that the sealed premises were reopened after the outstanding dues were paid.
