Lightning Strike Kills Four People in Punjab

Unstable weather conditions continue to affect various regions of Pakistan, with the latest spell bringing tragedy to South Punjab. On Sunday, several areas experienced rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, as forecasted by the Meteorological Department.

Amid these weather changes, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that at least four people lost their lives and four others were injured due to lightning strikes in South Punjab. The victims were residents of Rajanpur and Bahawalpur, according to a PDMA spokesperson.

In response, DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia reached out to the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts, instructing them to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care. He also announced that financial assistance would be provided to the families of those who lost their lives.

The current weather forecast indicates partly cloudy conditions with rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms expected at isolated locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, Punjab, Northeast Balochistan, Upper Sindh, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan over the next twelve hours. Isolated hailstorms and heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds, are also likely in South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast and Southern Punjab, and Northeast Balochistan.

As of this morning, temperatures in major cities were recorded as follows: Islamabad 21°C, Lahore 26°C, Karachi 29°C, Peshawar 23°C, Quetta 16°C, Gilgit and Murree 14°C, and Muzaffarabad 18°C.

Authorities urge residents to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
