All CAA Security Officers Get International Certification

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced that all officers in its Directorate of Aviation Security have received international certification as Aviation Security Inspectors. This achievement follows the completion of a specialized training program conducted in Pakistan by instructors accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with support from the UK government.

The certification program was organized in collaboration with the UK Department for Transport (DfT), aiming to align Pakistan’s aviation security framework with internationally recognized protocols. This milestone is expected to significantly enhance the country’s oversight capabilities, strengthen regulatory compliance, and contribute positively to Pakistan’s standing under ICAO’s global audit assessments.

In an official statement, the CAA emphasized the value of this initiative, noting, “This training is vital for building the expertise of our aviation security inspectors and will help improve adherence to global aviation standards.”

The UK-led training, delivered by ICAO-qualified professionals, officially recognizes CAA security directorate officers as certified inspectors. This accreditation enables them to conduct inspections and compliance audits under ICAO’s Universal Security Audit Program (USAP), which evaluates how effectively countries manage aviation security.

Pakistan has previously secured a leading position in South Asia in ICAO’s Effective Implementation Rating — a global index that assesses conformity with international aviation safety and security standards.

The CAA also revealed plans to further enhance its human resource capabilities through international educational opportunities. Two officers have been selected for fully funded postgraduate programs in aviation security, to be pursued in France and South Korea. These placements are part of a broader effort to strengthen institutional knowledge through collaboration with foreign civil aviation authorities.
