The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai have announced that they will be closed on May 28, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday in Pakistan.
Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates the historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in Chagai, Balochistan, marking the moment when Pakistan became the first Muslim nation—and the seventh country globally—to achieve nuclear capability.
The Government of Pakistan has declared May 28 a public holiday to honor this significant milestone in the country’s defense history.
A public notice issued by the embassy stated:
“The Pakistani community in the UAE is hereby informed that the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai will remain closed on May 28 due to the public holiday on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer.”
Normal operations are expected to resume on the following working day.
