Dumper Truck Owners Refuse to Pick Up Animal Waste During Eid ul Adha

The Dumper Truck Transport Owners Association has announced it will not pick up animal entrails and offal in Karachi during Eid ul Adha, citing repeated violence against its members and a lack of compensation from authorities.

In a video statement released Wednesday, Association President Liaqat Mehsood said the decision was made in protest after 20 to 25 dumper trucks were set on fire by miscreants in recent months. “Despite repeated appeals, no compensation has been provided so far,” Mehsood stated. “I have submitted written complaints to the Karachi commissioner and all concerned departments, but no action has been taken.”

Mehsood accused the Sindh government and local bodies of neglect and injustice, claiming the dumper transport sector has been unfairly targeted and ignored. The boycott comes amid heightened tensions in Karachi following a series of fatal accidents involving dumpers and tankers. In response to these incidents, several vehicles were torched by angry mobs, further escalating the challenges faced by transporters.

The association’s refusal to join the city’s offal removal drive is expected to impact cleanliness operations during Eid ul Adha, a period when large amounts of animal waste are generated across Karachi. City officials have yet to announce alternative arrangements for waste management during the holiday.
