The Punjab government is set to expand its vehicle emissions testing program to motorways in a major push to combat air pollution and enforce environmental standards across the province.
The initiative, led by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department, will see Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths installed at various points along motorways, allowing motorists to have their vehicles tested for emissions compliance.
Currently, ETS booths are already operational at 20 prime locations in Lahore, including Emporium Mall, Liberty Market, Model Town Park, Jallo Park, and the CBD Kalma Chowk. These booths operate from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday, with a lunch and prayer break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
The government has now announced that similar testing booths will soon be launched on motorways, enabling vehicle owners traveling long distances to get their emissions checked more conveniently.
The public is being encouraged to use the nearest ETS booth for testing and can access booth locations and updates via the Green Punjab mobile app or by calling the 1373 helpline.
