As part of its 2025–26 budget, the Sindh government has proposed a reduction of up to Rs. 1,000 in taxes on commercial vehicles, according to official documents released Friday.
The proposal also includes halving mutation and sales fees from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 500, aiming to ease costs for vehicle owners and encourage formal transactions.
On the transport front, the government announced a phased plan to roll out 1,000 electric buses across the province. In the first phase, 500 electric buses will hit the roads of Karachi this year to promote sustainable urban mobility.
To support this initiative, the government plans to set up electric vehicle charging stations at public locations.
