The tragic deaths of 20 newborns at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Pakpattan have raised serious concerns, prompting an official investigation. A committee formed to probe the incident has now completed its inquiry.
According to available details, the heartbreaking incident occurred between June 16 and June 22, during which 20 infants reportedly died due to alleged negligence and lack of adequate medical facilities at the hospital.

The most alarming day was June 19, when five infants passed away in the pediatric ward alone. Preliminary findings suggest that 15 of the newborns had been referred from various private hospitals, while three were born at home.
Families of the deceased children have accused the medical staff of negligence, citing oxygen shortages and poor healthcare services as the primary reasons behind the fatalities.
In response, a three-member investigation committee, formed under the direction of the Sahiwal Commissioner, has completed its probe. The committee, which includes representatives from Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and the health department, is expected to submit its report by July 2.
