In a significant development, a case of alleged harassment against women members has emerged from the Punjab Assembly.
For the first time in the assembly’s history, a female member from the ruling party has submitted a formal workplace harassment complaint against four opposition legislators.
Raheela Khadim Hussain, a government MPA, submitted a written application to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, alleging that offensive language and inappropriate gestures were directed toward women in the House, which she described as completely unacceptable.

Speaking about the incident, Raheela Khadim stated that the situation had become intolerable, prompting her to file two formal complaints against the opposition members involved.
Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, confirmed that harassment complaints had been received. He added that the applications are currently pending, as the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly is currently out of the country. Further discussion on the matter will take place upon his return.
