Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Chief Commissioner, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has instructed officials to compile comprehensive data on all housing and cooperative societies operating within the boundaries of the CDA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
Presiding over a meeting, Randhawa emphasized the need for a detailed record of layout plans, no-objection certificates (NOCs), and plot allotments, especially for societies that are issuing more files than the land they possess. He stressed that the names, zones, and complete documentation of each society must be collected and organized.
The relevant departments of CDA and ICT were also directed to take strict legal action—without any discrimination—against illegal housing developments and unregistered cooperative societies. During the meeting, the Member Planning of CDA provided an overview of the actions already being taken against unauthorized societies across various zones of the capital.
The session was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Talat Mahmood (Member Admin and Estate), Dr. Khalid Hafiz (Member Planning), Syed Mafasat Raza (Member Engineering), Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, and heads of various CDA and ICT departments such as Planning, Building Control, Law, Special Projects, and Enforcement, among others.
Randhawa reaffirmed a zero-tolerance approach towards unauthorized construction and encroachments, stating that illegal developments will be removed to protect Islamabad’s environment and urban aesthetics, particularly in both residential and rural areas.
Attendees were informed that a list of both legal and illegal housing schemes has been published on the CDA’s official website to ensure transparency and aid the public in verifying the status of any society before investing. The meeting also reviewed the legal measures taken against suppliers providing construction materials to illegal housing and cooperative societies.
