The government has approved an increase in EOBI pensions, marriage grants, and death grants, providing additional financial support to workers and their families. The measures follow continued efforts to strengthen social protection for the labor sector.
The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) pension has been raised by 15%, giving retired workers higher monthly payments. This increase is aimed at helping pensioners manage household expenses more effectively.
The marriage grant for registered workers has been enhanced to assist families in covering wedding costs for their children. The initiative is intended to reduce the financial strain often faced by low-income households during family events.
The death grant has also been increased, offering immediate financial assistance to families in the event of a worker’s death. This support is designed to help surviving family members manage urgent expenses following a loss.
According to Mustafa Malik, the Central Information Secretary of PML-Q and Focal Person for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, these steps should help improve worker welfare and social protection measures. He said the government is taking practical steps to strengthen financial security for the working class.
