A Special Central Judge in Rawalpindi has sentenced a corruption convict to 29 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine exceeding Rs 2 million.
The court also directed the accused, Hamid Jaleel, to repay Rs 21.5 million to the Pakistan Post Department as compensation.
The case dates back to 2022, when the Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad registered charges of corruption and misconduct against the accused.
According to the FIA spokesperson, Jaleel, while serving as a Postmaster, was found guilty of making fraudulent entries worth over Rs 25.2 million in pension savings books.
The court’s decision underscores a strict stance against financial misconduct within public service institutions.
