Lahore Traffic Police to Take Action Against Token Tax Defaulters

Lahore’s traffic police are gearing up to crack down on vehicle owners who have not paid their token tax, expanding their enforcement efforts beyond just issuing e-challans for traffic violations.

Authorities have now integrated data from the Safe City Authority, the Traffic Police, and the Excise Department, allowing instant access to comprehensive information about vehicle owners.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Athar Waheed, explained that traffic wardens can now retrieve all necessary details about a vehicle simply by scanning its number plate, thanks to a newly introduced app. This tool enables wardens to issue e-challans and also take immediate action against those who have defaulted on their token tax payments.

New standard operating procedures have been circulated among the traffic police, directing them to focus the initial phase of this campaign on car owners. For now, motorcyclists will not be targeted in this drive.
