In a separate development, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy monsoon rains across multiple cities, including Lahore, during Independence Day festivities.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said the seventh phase of the monsoon has begun and will last until August 21. He noted that this spell is expected to be more intense than previous ones, potentially bringing heavy rainfall to both the upper river catchment areas and the plains of Punjab.

The DG added that showers are also likely during upcoming religious events, including the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), with most districts of Punjab expected to be affected.
