The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted additional rainfall in Karachi on Thursday, as a monsoon system continues to affect the city.
Winds have shifted direction, now blowing from the northeast at a speed of four kilometers per hour.
Several areas across Karachi are expected to see heavy to very heavy showers, with the rain likely to continue intermittently until August 22, according to the latest weather update.
On Wednesday, Orangi Town recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 113mm. Other rainfall measurements included 43mm at Shara-e-Faisal, 35.6mm in Korangi, 31mm in Keamari, and 24mm each at University Road and PAF Masroor Base. Defence Phase-V saw 20mm, Saadi Town 15.9mm, and Gulshan-e-Maymar received the lowest at 6.8mm.
Earlier forecasts from the Met Office indicated widespread rain with periods of heavy to very heavy downpours in Karachi and other parts of Sindh, including Mithi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, and Jamshoro. Scattered showers are also expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, and Jacobabad from August 19 to 22.
In Balochistan, areas such as Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech, Gwadar, and Panjgur are also likely to experience rain with occasional heavy falls during the same period.
