The Punjab government has announced a major step to support nursing graduates by creating structured internship opportunities along with financial benefits.
Under the new policy, graduates holding BSN nursing degrees will receive a monthly stipend during their mandatory internship year. The amount will be equal to the basic salary of a charge nurse and will be provided through the Health Foundation.
Priority for internships will be given to graduates of government nursing colleges affiliated with teaching hospitals. If positions remain, graduates from other government nursing colleges will also be accommodated.
According to officials, the internship will last one year and will be conducted across different hospital departments to provide hands-on training. The government has made this internship mandatory to ensure practical experience for nursing graduates before entering the profession.
