The federal government on Thursday postponed the inaugural session of the newly constituted 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) after the Sindh government sought a delay, citing an impending flood threat in the province.
A notification issued to members and finance secretaries said the rescheduled date would be announced later. The meeting, initially set for August 27 and later shifted to August 29, was to be chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Formed on August 22, the 11th NFC is tasked with preparing a fresh award for the distribution of federal divisible taxes between the Centre and provinces. It will also consider grants-in-aid, borrowing powers, and provincial contributions to national projects such as dams, highways, and disaster management.
