Rs. 1.5 Crore Stolen From Politician’s Mansion in Islamabad

Armed robbers broke into the residence of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) minority leader and former MNA Ramesh Kumar in a private housing society on Wednesday, making away with foreign currency worth nearly Rs. 1.5 crore.

According to police sources, the incident took place within the limits of Shahzad Town Police Station in the early hours of the morning. A three-member gang entered the house where the ex-MNA’s driver, Javed Iqbal, was the only person present at the time. When he resisted, the robbers assaulted him and held him at gunpoint before looting the cash.

A joint team of the local police and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) later visited the crime scene and collected evidence, including fingerprints. Officials confirmed that the forensic samples have been dispatched to laboratories for examination.

Investigators have also scrutinized the complainant, Javed Iqbal, to rule out any possible inside involvement. Police said he, along with other individuals, would be thoroughly interrogated as part of the probe.

Authorities expressed confidence that the investigation would soon lead to the identification and arrest of the culprits involved in the high-profile robbery.
