A cockroach was discovered in food served at the National Assembly cafeteria on Tuesday, during a meeting of women parliamentarians, 24NewsHD reported.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Dr. Shahida Rehmani confirmed the incident, while MNA Naeema Kishwar noted that this was not the first such case, as similar complaints had surfaced previously.
Lawmakers expressed strong concerns over the recurring issue of unhygienic meals being served inside the Assembly premises. “We raise our voices against unsafe food being given to the public, yet we ourselves are subjected to the same problem,” Naeema Kishwar remarked.
In response, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq assured members that an independent inquiry would be launched to investigate the matter.
