Metro Bus Service Partially Restored in Twin Cities

The Metro Bus Service operating between the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been restored after remaining suspended for four consecutive days. The service was halted due to a protest call by a religious group that led to road closures in several key areas.

According to officials, in the first phase, the Metro Bus Service has resumed operations from Saddar Station to Kashmir Highway. However, due to the presence of containers and blockades near D-Chowk, the section from Faiz Ahmad Faiz Station to Pak Secretariat remains closed.

Metro Bus authorities stated that the service had been suspended on the directions of the district administration amid security concerns and road closures caused by the protest. The authorities confirmed that full operations will resume in the second phase once all routes are cleared and normal traffic movement is restored.

According to the spokesperson, the Blue, Green, and Red Line Metro Bus Services in Islamabad have also been restored. Electric bus operations have resumed partially, with most routes now functional. However, routes passing through the Red Zone and nearby areas remain closed due to ongoing restrictions.

The spokesperson added that the electric bus service will be fully restored as soon as all roads are reopened. The suspension, which was triggered by a protest from a religious organization, ended after the group announced the conclusion of its demonstration on Monday.
