A bizarre domestic dispute in China has gone viral after a woman accused her husband of infidelity based entirely on an online fortune-telling session.
The incident took place in Wuhu, Anhui province. According to the report, the woman paid 500 yuan (about Rs. 20,000) to a self-proclaimed “fortune-telling master” who claimed her husband was secretly meeting prostitutes and checking into hotels with other women.
Despite her husband’s repeated denials, the woman believed the prediction and confronted him, leading to escalating marital tensions.
Police officer Zhao Xingyu from the Guandou Police Station under the Jiujiang Branch of Wuhu Public Security Bureau said the woman had placed full faith in the online fortune-teller’s words.
“She paid 500 yuan for the reading and believed everything the so-called master said,” Zhao explained. “She was convinced of their accuracy because others had told her the fortune-teller was very reliable.”
The husband, distressed by the accusations, said the fortune-teller had gone as far as to claim he had stayed in hotels with women and solicited sex workers. He told police his wife constantly called the fortune-teller and refused to listen to reason.
“She’s been calling that fortune-teller non-stop. I told her I can’t live like this anymore—it’s unbearable,” he said.
Unable to convince his wife of his innocence, the husband turned to the police to help resolve the situation. Officers eventually intervened, criticized the woman for her superstitious behavior, and mediated between the couple.
