Temperatures to Drop Significantly as Rain and Snowfall Predicted

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for the upper parts of the country. Here’s what you need to know:

Key Weather Forecast:

A westerly wave will enter northern Pakistan on the night of November 3 and last until November 5.

Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in:

  • Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, Kohat, Galliyat
  • Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur)
  • Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, Shigar)
  • Snowfall is likely over the mountains in these regions.
  • Isolated hailstorms may also occur.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore

Expected Impacts:

  • Significant drop in day temperatures during the wet spell; night temperatures will fall afterward.
  • Fog and smog will temporarily subside during the rain but may return after the weather clears.
  • Windstorms, hail, and lightning could damage weak or loose structures.
