Punjab Police Female Inspector Wins Gold Medal at World Powerlifting Championship

Rawalpindi Police Inspector Irum Khanum has brought pride to Pakistan by winning two gold medals at the World Powerlifting Championship 2025 in Sri Lanka.

She secured first position in both the powerlifting and deadlift events, marking a major international win for Rawalpindi Police and Punjab Police.

Inspector Irum Khanum dominated the competition, defeating Indian weightlifter Sapna to claim the top spot and two gold medals. Her exceptional performance earned her recognition as one of the leading athletes on the international powerlifting stage.

The success of Rawalpindi Police athletes did not end there. Head Constable Majid Dogar secured two gold medals in the Masters Three category, while Constable Azim Gujjar added a silver medal in the Senior category, further boosting the department’s medal tally.

On her return to Police Lines, Inspector Irum received a warm welcome from colleagues who celebrated her remarkable achievement.

CPO Khalid Hamdani praised her success, saying that Irum Khanum had brought honour to Punjab Police and Pakistan, calling her a “bright star” of the force and a source of national pride.

In another proud moment, it was also announced that Inspector Irum had received an invitation to carry the Olympic torch, an honor reserved for outstanding athletes who inspire global sporting spirit.
