Islamabad Traffic Police on Monday issued a traffic challan to a vehicle associated with senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
According to reports, the vehicle was penalized for several violations, including the use of tinted windows, not wearing a seat belt, and displaying an irregular number plate. Traffic officials removed the black film from the windows at the scene.
Authorities said Haideri’s son was behind the wheel when the violations were recorded. The challan was issued at Islamabad Express Chowk, with the seat belt offense cited as one of the key reasons for the fine.
In an official statement, Islamabad Police stressed that traffic regulations apply equally to all citizens, regardless of political influence or public standing. The department added that its enforcement drive would continue without exception.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri is a prominent religious scholar and veteran politician. He has served as Deputy Chairman of the Senate since March 2015 and has held the post of central general secretary of the JUI-F since 1995.
Born in June 1957 in the Kalat district of Balochistan, Haideri has been active in politics since the 1970s. Over the years, he has represented his party in both the National Assembly and the Senate.
In the 2024 general elections, Haideri secured a National Assembly seat after defeating senior politician Sardar Akhtar Mengal, underlining his continued presence in Pakistan’s political landscape.
