Pakistan to Get Its Very Own Oval-Style Cricket Stadium

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given the green light to transform Lahore’s LCCA Ground into a venue inspired by England’s iconic Oval Stadium.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the PCB Board of Governors, which was held via video link under the chairmanship of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The board approved several key matters related to both domestic and international cricket.

The board endorsed plans to redevelop the LCCA Ground along the lines of The Oval, with the goal of creating a modern, high-quality cricket venue in Lahore.

Among the major decisions was the formal approval of the second phase of renovation at the National Stadium in Karachi, aimed at further upgrading facilities at one of Pakistan’s premier venues. In addition, the meeting also took note of the recently held PSL roadshows in London and New York, terming them a success.

The board further passed a resolution appreciating Naqvi’s personal role in ensuring the continuation of the Sri Lankan team’s recent tour of Pakistan. Addressing the meeting, Naqvi stressed that the credit for the tour’s success belonged to the entire PCB team rather than any individual.

He added that the positive response to the PSL roadshows was the result of close coordination between PCB and PSL officials, with a shared objective of strengthening the PSL as a global brand.

The Board of Governors received detailed briefings on the scrutiny of regional clubs by a leading private firm, initiatives to reinforce the domestic cricket structure, proposals to increase grassroots-level tournaments and matches, and preparations for upcoming ICC men’s and women’s events.
