Police arrested a woman for allegedly killing her teenage daughter after an argument over smoking in Basti Sokar, Yazman, Bahawalpur.
According to police, the accused, identified as Nabila, was stopped by her daughter, Aisha, 16, who disliked her mother’s smoking habit. Police said that on Saturday night, when the girl again objected, the woman became enraged.
The woman allegedly overpowered her daughter and strangled her to death.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and called forensic and crime scene units to collect evidence.
The accused woman was taken into custody. The body of the deceased was then shifted to Yazman THQ Hospital for a postmortem examination.
In a separate incident, the Burewala Control Crime Department (CCD) has arrested a man in an injured condition who was allegedly involved in sexually harassing female students and passing objectionable remarks.
Police said the accused, identified as Ghulam Mustafa, was wanted after a video clip of his actions went viral on social media. Members of the local press club had registered a complaint against him.
Police stated that further investigations in both cases are ongoing.
