All commercial bank branches across the country will observe extended working hours until 10:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to facilitate the collection of government duties and taxes.
According to an official notice issued on Tuesday, banks have been advised to keep their counters open late to allow taxpayers to make over-the-counter payments on the last day of the year.
Banks have also been instructed to keep their relevant branches open for as long as required to facilitate special clearing of government transactions being conducted by the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).
In addition, banks have been directed to ensure uninterrupted availability of online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile banking applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to enable taxpayers to pay government dues electronically without disruption.
The move is aimed at easing last-day payment pressure and ensuring smooth collection of government revenues before year-end.
