Banks to Remain Closed in Pakistan at the Start of New Year

Banks will remain closed for public dealings on 01 January 2026, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced in a notification on Tuesday.

All banks, development finance institutions and microfinance banks will remain closed to the public on January 1 on account of a bank holiday, the notification read.

“All banks, microfinance banks (MFBs), and development financial institutions (DFIs) shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealings on the aforementioned date. However, all employees of the banks/DFIs/ MFBs will attend the office as usual,” the statement read.
