A cockroach appeared on a refreshment plate during a Senate committee meeting, shocking Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Waqar Mehdi and raising serious concerns about the hygiene conditions in Parliament House.
Senator Waqar Mehdi said he spotted a cockroach crawling in his plate, which contained sandwiches, samosas, and other refreshments.
He added that this marked the third time he had encountered cockroaches in Parliament House, claiming that insects were present in plates, on tables, and even among office files.
Taking stern notice of the complaint, Committee Chairman Senator Saifullah Abro said he had already written to the Senate Secretariat regarding the poor sanitary conditions and the persistent presence of cockroaches in the Parliament building.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over cleanliness and maintenance inside Pakistan’s Parliament House, prompting calls for immediate corrective measures.
