The main bourse started off the New Year by settling at a new all-time high after gaining over 2,300 points as investors betted big on the year being a big one for stocks.
The KSE-100 index rose as high as 176,658, up 2,604 points or 1.49 percent before closing at 176,355 having gained 2,301 points.
As many as 565 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 337 of them recorded gains and 116 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 112 companies remained unchanged.
Top positive contribution to the index came from UBL, OGDC, ENGROH, HBL, LUCK and BAHL, as they cumulatively contributed +1,207 points to the index.
Traded value wise OGDC (PKR.9.87 billion), PIBTL (PKR.9.8 billion), SEARL (PKR.8.92 billion), KEL (PKR.8.15 billion) & BOP (PKR.7.2 billion) dominated the trading activity.
Traded volume and value for the trading session stood at 1.4bn and PKR.48bn respectively.
Market activity remained healthy, with total traded volumes clocking in at 799 million shares, while overall turnover stood at Rs. 37.5 billion.
