China Extends Reduced Visa Fee

China has officially extended its reduced visa fee policy until December 31, 2026, keeping travel more affordable for tourists, business visitors, and frequent travelers. The move, initially introduced as a temporary measure, has now been confirmed by Chinese embassies worldwide, providing applicants with long-term cost certainty.

China Visa Fees Remain 25% Lower.

Under the extension, applicants will continue to benefit from around 25% lower visa fees compared to pre-2023 rates. The reduced charges apply to:

  • Single-entry visas
  • Double-entry visas
  • Multiple-entry visas

The eligibility criteria and application process remain unchanged, with only the discounted fees continuing.

Fingerprint Exemption Extended

China has also extended its fingerprint exemption for short-term visas until the end of 2026. Applicants travelling for up to 180 days will not need to provide fingerprints when applying for:

  • Tourist visas
  • Business visas
  • Family visit visas
  • Transit visas

This measure further simplifies the visa process and saves time for short-stay travelers.

Embassies Confirm Extension

Chinese embassies and consulates in several countries, including France, the UK, Canada, and Saudi Arabia, have confirmed the continuation of the policy. Authorities clarified that no new rules have been introduced alongside the extension.

Important Note on Service Fees

The reduced charges apply only to official embassy visa fees. In countries where applications are processed through visa application centres, separate service fees still apply and have not been reduced.

Part of China’s Broader Travel Push

The extension aligns with China’s wider efforts to revive international travel. The country has also maintained its 30-day unilateral visa-free entry for citizens of 45 countries until December 31, 2026.

For travellers planning trips in 2026, the continued lower visa fees and simplified procedures make visiting China more predictable and budget-friendly.
