Pakistan Winger Suffers Injury Ahead of Asia Cup Qualifier

Ahmad Faraz Gulzari, a winger for the Pakistan national football team and Melbourne Victory U21, has suffered an ACL injury during a training session and is expected to miss Pakistan’s March fixture against Myanmar national football team in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The injury comes as a setback for both the player and the national team, with Gulzari now facing a period of recovery and rehabilitation.

Gulzari is a promising young Pakistani professional footballer who primarily plays as a left winger but is also capable of operating on the right. He is known for his pace, creativity, dribbling ability, and goal contributions, and is widely regarded as a high-potential attacking talent.

He began his football development at local clubs Casey Comets and Berwick City SC from the age of 13, where his goal-scoring and assist numbers quickly drew attention.

In 2021, he joined the Melbourne City academy and went on to represent Victoria in national youth championships.

During the 2025 season, Gulzari excelled at the U23 and National Premier Leagues levels, recording 12 goals and 15 assists in 22 matches.

His performances earned him a move in early 2026 from Melbourne City U21 to Melbourne Victory U21, where he has been competing in the NPL youth and reserve competition.

Gulzari received his first call-up to the Pakistan men’s national team in late September 2025 alongside Omar Nawaz ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. He made his senior international debut in October 2025 during the 2027 qualifying matches.

Since then, he has emerged as one of Pakistan’s most exciting young prospects and has frequently been highlighted as a rising star expected to strengthen the team’s attacking options in future qualifiers.
