A new biometric verification system has come into force from Tuesday in courts across Punjab, including the Lahore High Court and all district courts, to enhance transparency and prevent fraudulent practices.
Under the system, petitioners, respondents, and sureties must undergo mandatory biometric verification through NADRA before court proceedings. Court sources said that hearings will not take place and bail bonds will not be accepted without biometric verification.
Authorities aim to curb fake cases, bogus sureties, and the use of false identities through this initiative. Officials believe the system will ensure the presence of genuine litigants and improve the credibility of judicial proceedings.
Legal experts have termed the move a major judicial reform, while judicial circles say it marks the beginning of a new era of accountability and transparency in Punjab’s court system.
