Kite and String Sales Cross Rs. 1 Billion Mark as Lahore Prepares for Basant Revival

Kite-related business continued to surge in Lahore during Basant. The Kite Flying Association’s legal adviser, Malik Faizan Ahmed, revealed that sales of kite string reels crossed Rs 1.22 billion on the fourth day alone.

Speaking to the media, Malik Faizan Ahmed said that despite an increase in prices, kites and accessories remained widely available across city markets on the fourth day.

Over One Million Kite Reels Sold in a Single Day

According to him, more than one million kite reels were sold on the fourth day. In addition, over 20,000 spools of kite string (pannas) were purchased by buyers.

He shared updated prices from the markets. A one-and-a-half tawa reel is selling for Rs 700, a one tawa reel for Rs 400, and a half tawa reel for Rs 300. Meanwhile, a two-piece panna is being sold for Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000, depending on quality.

Daily Sales Figures Reflect Growth

Malik Faizan Ahmed also provided a breakdown of daily sales. On the first day, transactions totaled Rs 160 million. Sales rose to Rs 180 million on the second day, followed by Rs 200 million on the third day. On the fourth day alone, buying and selling reached Rs 680 million.

Major Markets Remain Active

He added that trade in kites, reels, and pannas remains active in several areas. These include Androon Mochi Gate, Islam Pura, Sanda, Samanabad, Nonarian, and Ichhra, along with other localities of Lahore.
