The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has begun issuing Punjab registration numbers to vehicles and motorcycles previously registered in other provinces, including in Rawalpindi Division.
The department has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure in this regard. From February 14, the Rawalpindi office started processing fresh re-registration requests with mandatory biometric verification.
Vehicles of all types and engine capacities registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are now eligible for registration in Punjab. Applicants must obtain a No Objection Certificate from the excise office of the relevant province.
They are also required to submit a vehicle clearance certificate, a Police 15 report, the complete vehicle file and an affidavit from the owner. Officials said the registration fee will remain the same as the rate applicable in Punjab.
After completing the process, authorities will issue a new Punjab registration number for the respective city, and the previous number will stand cancelled. The department will also notify the excise office of the concerned province about the newly issued number.
