Heavy rain and hailstorms swept across Karachi, bringing a sharp drop in temperature and a return of chilly conditions to the coastal city.
Heavy showers were reported in several localities, while hail was witnessed in areas such as Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Rainfall also lashed the SITE area, Buffer Zone, Five Star Roundabout, Nagan Chowrangi, Orangi Town, and stretches along University Road, causing wet and slippery conditions on major arteries.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the weather activity was triggered by a shallow westerly wave affecting southern parts of the country. The system brought isolated thunderstorms, gusty winds, and pockets of hail.

Residents in several neighborhoods shared videos and images on social media showing hail accumulation and rain-soaked streets, with many expressing surprise at the rare winter phenomenon.
Weather officials advised motorists to drive carefully due to reduced visibility and slick roads, warning that wind speeds in some areas could reach up to 40 kilometres per hour during the spell.
The fresh showers have provided temporary relief from dry conditions but also disrupted routine traffic flow in parts of the metropolis.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as intermittent rain and gusty winds remain possible under the current weather system.
