The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has denied issuing a notice titled ‘Non-Availability of Fresh Currency Notes for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026″.
In a comment to ProPakistani, an SBP representative clarified that the institution has not issued any such statement about new currency notes.
If such an announcement were authentic, it would have been published as an official press release, which is the only channel through which the SBP communicates with the public and mainstream media, he added.
He explained that any circulating message claiming otherwise cannot be verified unless it comes directly from the State Bank. The bank does not disseminate such notifications through unofficial letters or SMS messages, he added.
The fake letter, which has been shared widely on social media, stated that new notes would not be issued, SMS services for fresh notes would not operate, and citizens should rely on digital payment methods instead. The source clarified that no such plan exists and urged the public to ignore unverified messages.
