Inspector General of Police Rao Abdul Karim has approved a monthly stipend for visually impaired children of police employees as part of a welfare initiative for police families.
According to sources, the Additional IG Welfare and Finance has issued an official notification stating that blind children of police personnel will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000.
The stipend will be provided to the visually impaired children of serving, retired, and martyred police employees, as well as to the children of personnel who died during service.
IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim said the police force functions like a family, and the welfare of employees remains a top priority.
He added that children suffering from Thalassemia are already being given Rs30,000 per month, while children affected by Cerebral Palsy receive Rs20,000 per month under welfare programs.
The IG further stated that substantial financial assistance is also being provided to the children of police employees suffering from other serious illnesses.
The initiative is part of the Punjab Police welfare measures aimed at supporting employees and their families.
It is worth mentioning that Rao Abdul Karim belongs to the 24th Common of the Police Service of Pakistan. Previously, he served as Additional IG Special Branch Punjab and has also held key positions, including Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol, Commandant Police College, DIG Traffic Punjab, RPO Gujranwala, and DIG Telecommunication.
