WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a premium subscription tier called WhatsApp Plus, according to the reliable WABetaInfo. WhatsApp will keep its core messaging service free, but will add premium features on top for those who pay for WhatsApp Plus.
WhatsApp Plus will bring additional customization tools in exchange for a monthly fee. These new options will let you change the app icon and add new themes. A total of 14 new app icons are being added alongside extra color options. Exclusive ringtones will also be available to those who subscribe.
Subscribers will gain the ability to pin up to 20 chats, compared to the current three-chat limit. Additional features will be added over time, including subscriber-only sticker packs, immersive chatting interactions, and more.
There is no confirmed timeline for the launch of WhatsApp Plus, and pricing details have not been disclosed. Further information is expected once WhatsApp makes an official announcement.
