Authorities in Rawalpindi are considering new security measures, including the installation of anti-drone systems and weapons, at sensitive sites linked to Chinese projects to enhance protection.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee chaired by Regional Police Officer Khalid Hamdani, where officials reviewed the security situation in light of recent regional developments.
Participants recommended expanding the deployment of anti-drone systems at key locations, including workplaces and residential areas of Chinese nationals. Officials noted that such systems are already operational at some sites, with further expansion under consideration.
The Special Branch has been directed to carry out a detailed security audit of housing societies, including verification of employees and private security personnel. Authorities have also instructed departments to maintain updated records of Chinese nationals and strengthen intelligence-based surveillance across the city.
