The National Disaster Management Authority has forecast snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and the upper mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 12 to 24 hours, as a new weather system is expected to affect different parts of the country.
According to the authority, rain and hailstorms are also likely in parts of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The weather alert also covers Islamabad as well as central and southern districts of Punjab, where rain accompanied by hail is expected.
The NDMA said rain is also likely in Karachi, other parts of interior Sindh, and various cities in Balochistan, especially Quetta.
Authorities have warned that the expected rain and snowfall may make roads slippery and disrupt the normal flow of traffic in affected areas. Citizens and travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and adopt precautionary measures during the weather spell.
The warning comes as weather officials have already predicted a fresh round of unstable conditions in several parts of the country.
In Lahore, the temperature was recorded at 23°C earlier in the day, while the Meteorological Department said the city is expected to receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms between April 6 and April 9.
