Rain, Storms and Hail Expected to Terrorize Pakistan Next Week

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) hass issued a nationwide weather advisory warning of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across northern and central regions over the coming days.

NDMA announced that intermittent rainfall is expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from April 12 to 17.

The system may bring thunderstorms, dust storms and gusty winds, while isolated areas could also experience hailstorms.

Rainfall is likely in Islamabad and multiple Punjab cities, including Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Mianwali and Mandi Bahauddin.

Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain largely hot and dry, with a gradual increase in daytime temperatures.

Karachi will continue to experience warm conditions through early next week, although humidity levels and sea breezes are expected to prevent full heatwave conditions.

Mountainous regions are forecast to receive both rain and snowfall.

Areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir may see snowfall at higher elevations alongside rainfall in lower valleys.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur are expected to receive thunderstorms, while Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Karak, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan could experience strong winds and rain.

The NDMA warned that lightning, hail and powerful wind gusts may damage weak structures, uproot trees and disrupt electricity supply.

Wet road conditions could also affect traffic flow, while continuous rainfall in hilly terrain may heighten the risk of landslides.

Citizens have been advised to monitor official weather updates and follow safety instructions throughout the forecast period.
