American journalist Caitlin Doornbos on Sunday posted on X that she has fallen in love with Pakistan.

Doornbos is a foreign policy and national security reporter at the New York Post. She previously worked as a Pentagon and Asia correspondent for Stars and Stripes. She studied journalism at the University of Kansas and holds a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.
She randomly posted this in a thread discussing rising tensions in the Middle East, including remarks attributed to US President Donald Trump’s latest announcement about a naval blockade of Iran and pressure on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The thread focused on maritime security and possible escalation in the region. Amid that context, Doornbos’ unexpected praise for Pakistan quickly went viral and ushered in a wave of engagement from X users.
