BYD is once again pushing the boundaries of automotive technology with the latest demonstration of its upcoming BYD Fangchengbao Bao 8 SUV.
A new video shared online showcases the Bao 8’s advanced Yunzhuan-P ultra suspension system lifting individual wheels to extreme heights while the vehicle maintains a level body position on simulated rough terrain and narrow obstacle paths.
The demonstration highlights the SUV’s ability to independently adjust each wheel during severe off-road conditions, allowing it to navigate terrain that would typically challenge conventional 4×4 vehicles.
According to details shared during the showcase, each wheel can reportedly support up to nine tons of weight and maintain its position for as long as 24 hours. The system can also temporarily lift a wheel without requiring a jack, making tire changes significantly easier in difficult environments.

The Bao 8 is part of BYD’s growing Fangchengbao lineup and comes equipped with the company’s latest Disus P Ultra suspension technology alongside its new-generation 1000V flash charging architecture.
The Chinese EV giant has increasingly become known for showcasing futuristic engineering concepts that are making their way into production vehicles rather than remaining experimental prototypes.
Earlier demonstrations from BYD included vehicles capable of briefly floating on water and jumping over potholes using advanced suspension systems.
The latest Bao 8 footage has generated strong engagement online, with many users praising the SUV’s apparent off-road capabilities and technological innovation.
Others, however, questioned the long-term reliability and maintenance costs associated with such advanced suspension hardware, while some compared the concept to older mechanical off-road solutions already used in extreme terrain vehicles.
One of the standout features of the Disus P Ultra system is its ability to allow the vehicle to continue driving even on three wheels during emergencies such as tire blowouts or damaged road conditions.
The technology could also prove useful in situations where roads become too narrow or uneven for conventional SUVs to pass safely.
Alongside the BYD Fangchengbao Bao 5 Flash Charging Edition, the Bao 8 represents BYD’s growing ambition to dominate not only the electric sedan market but also the premium off-road SUV segment.
As competition in the global EV market intensifies, BYD appears determined to position its Fangchengbao brand as a serious challenger in the high-tech adventure vehicle category.
