Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has directed the education department to begin work on a legal framework for the establishment of 72 Chief Minister Model Schools across the province.
Chairing a meeting on the proposed initiative, the chief minister said the schools would be developed as modern educational institutions equipped with trained faculty, updated teaching methods and contemporary facilities.
According to a briefing presented during the meeting, 72 model schools for boys and girls will be established in districts across the province during the next fiscal year at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.5 billion.
Officials informed the meeting that a dedicated legal and regulatory framework would be introduced for the schools, while a centralized board of governors would be formed to oversee their administration and management.
The briefing further stated that the curriculum and assessment system of the model schools would differ from the conventional public school system and would be designed to align with modern educational standards and future workforce requirements.
Provincial Minister for Education and senior officials of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department attended the meeting.
