The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has proposed raising the minimum monthly wage by Rs 5,000, increasing it from Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 under the Budget 2026-27.
The proposal was unveiled by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi during his budget speech in the KP Assembly on Friday.
If approved, the new minimum wage could benefit low-income workers across the province and is intended to improve earnings in line with increasing household expenses.
The proposed increase is separate from the government’s plan to raise salaries and pensions for provincial employees and will require approval from the KP Assembly before it can be implemented.
