Under the revised communication framework, the central bank will increase the number of post MPC press conferences from two to four annually. SBP Governor will address the media following MPC meetings scheduled for July, October, January, and April.
The SBP has also decided to publish the presentation prepared by its staff for the post MPC analyst briefing on its website one day after each MPC meeting.
The central bank said the move is intended to provide greater insight into the committee’s decision making process and strengthen stakeholder confidence in its data driven approach to monetary policy formulation.
In addition, minutes of MPC meetings will now be published by the end of the fourth week following the corresponding meeting, streamlining the existing disclosure process.
According to the SBP, the latest measures are part of its efforts to enhance the effectiveness of monetary policy transmission and support the eventual adoption of an inflation targeting regime.
