KP Announces Two Public Holidays

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced public holidays on June 25 and 26 on the occasion of Ashura.

According to a notification issued by the Administration Department, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has approved public holidays on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, corresponding to Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26, 2026.

The holidays will apply to government offices operating under both five-day and six-day workweek schedules across the province.

The announcement was made through an official press release issued by the Administration Department on June 23.

Ashura, observed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, is marked across the country with religious gatherings, processions and commemorative events. The provincial government has directed the notification to be widely publicized through print and electronic media for public awareness.
