Alibaba Cloud has launched HappyHorse 1.1, an upgraded AI video generation model that now ranks as the world’s second-highest-rated AI video model following the withdrawal of rival platforms such as Seedance.
The new model is available through Alibaba Cloud Model Studio with full API access for developers and enterprise customers.
Alibaba is also offering a 40 percent introductory discount for the first two weeks after launch.
According to an independent benchmarking platform based on blind user evaluations, HappyHorse holds the No. 2 position across its major AI video leaderboards. The model outperforms several leading competitors, including Google’s Veo 3.1 in text-to-video generation, while trailing only the top-ranked model.
HappyHorse 1.1 introduces several improvements, including multi-image reference support to maintain consistent characters across scenes, smoother motion generation, more natural facial details, improved lip-sync accuracy, and better handling of complex prompts.
Unlike many competing systems that rely on separate models for video and audio generation, HappyHorse uses a unified architecture that produces better video and audio in a single generation process.
This is good for Alibaba since OpenAI has discontinued Sora and ByteDance has paused the international rollout of Seedance 2.0 due to copyright issues.
Alibaba is backing the launch with new data centers in France and Japan, as it seeks to attract businesses developing AI-powered video apps.
Alibaba is positioning itself as one of the strongest players in the rapidly growing AI video generation market.
